AutoSnore Data

NOTE: Snoring data requires you to have the AutoSnore app installed.

The data will automatically integrate into AutoSleep once you start using it. Similar to AutoSleep, it is a low cost one time paid app that records and monitors your snoring and sleep sounds.

What is Snoring?

  • Snoring is a widespread issue, but its severity and health implications can vary. Snoring can be light, occasional, and unconcerning, or it may be the sign of a serious underlying sleep-related breathing disorder.

  • Globally, general figures suggest around 40% of adults snore occasionally. For a sleeping condition often brushed off as a nuisance issue, it deserves more serious attention.

  • Snoring is commonly caused by a blockage or narrowing of the airway during sleep, leading to vibrations of the soft tissues in the throat.

  • Habitual snoring can lead to several health issues. Statistics indicate that frequent snorers have a 34% higher chance of developing heart disease and an 80% increased risk for insulin resistance, which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

  • Whether you snore occasionally, moderately or chronically, understanding what triggers the snoring in the first place can help you reduce its frequency and intensity.

How to Record Snoring

Provided you have the AutoSnore app installed and successfully recorded data using AutoSnore, the snoring information will automatically appear in AutoSleep. You don't have to to do anything.

Here are the key steps to remember when using the AutoSnore app:

Step 1 - Use a Charger

  • It is highly recommended to have a charger attached while you sleep.

  • The ideal location is to place your iPhone on a bedside table.

Step 2 - Press Start and Stop

  • Open the app and press Start to begin recording.

  • When you wake up, press the Stop button to end.

Step 3 - Be Consistent

  • For reliable data trends over time, try to place your iPhone in the same position each night.

Refer to the AutoSnore Support page here for details on using AutoSnore.

Snoring Intensity Gauge

  • Viewing the gauge, the white needle shows your snoring intensity for the night using your "Snurk Rating"

  • Unique to AutoSnore, "Snurks" is an innovative measure that provides a single score to rate your overall snoring during sleep. Think of it as a snore score, but with a background algorithm looking at all those snores overnight. Put simply, the higher your Snurk score, the more intense and frequent you snored.

  • Baseline shows your 28 day snoring intensity average, as shown with a little black mark on the gauge. This lets you easily see if the white needle is above or below your baseline average.

  • The outer shaded inlay (a grey shade in the outer ring) represents your 28 day minimum and maximum values.

Snoring Intensity Trends

  • Using the 'Show Trends' link will open the graph view with the "Snurk Report". Tap and slide your finger on the graph to view historical data.

  • Baseline is the trailing 28 days average.

  • The levels will categorise the snoring intensity. The higher the level, the more intense the snoring.

Comparing Snoring to Sleep Metrics

  • On the Sleep Session graph, all your snoring data will appear as white dots on the graph, forming cloud-like images, hence the name, "Snore Clouds" used in the AutoSnore app.

  • The larger and more dense the cloud, the more snores recorded.

  • This lets you compare your snoring with your sleep stages, or overlap it with your respiration or heart rate by tapping the metrics on or off.

Why is it a separate app and not built in AutoSleep?

100's of reasons for this, but let us explain the three main ones:

  1. It only requires iPhone. No Apple Watch required. This makes it available to more users.

  2. Simplicity. AutoSleep already has so many features and functions, far more than any sleep app on the market for one low price. AutoSnore is designed to be incredibly simple, fun and easy to use.

  3. Privacy. AutoSnore is 100% total privacy. No sound will leave your iPhone to external servers. Not even to iCloud backup. Keeping as a seperate apps means we can apply high privacy levels.

AutoSnore is our first new companion app to AutoSleep in over eight years at the time of release, and we’ve kept it simple: one low price and no ongoing costs.

You can read all about the AutoSnore app in more detail here.

AutoSnore Data

To ensure privacy, no recorded sound bites are transferred to AutoSleep.

AutoSnore will send the snore intensity, snore volume and snore frequency data. This can be found on the Today tab and Clock tab.

A great bonus you get with the data sync, is that the data can be stored in AutoSleep for longer than 4 weeks, which is the maximum time period in AutoSnore. The snore data once in AutoSleep will be stored the same with all other AutoSleep data types, securely encrypted and backed up in HealthKit.
