TRACK YOUR SNORING
A simple gauge of your daily stress for the previous day before your sleep. This uses your daily Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to indicate physical and mental stress.
HRV is captured automatically by your Apple Watch during the day, or by a breathe session using the Watch (the breathe app is found in the Mindfulness app on your Apple Watch). To increase the sample rate, refer to the below section called "Increasing the HRV Sample Rate".
This metric looks at your daytime HRV measures versus your personal daytime HRV trend data.
The baseline is set to the previous 28 days.
AutoSleep will exclude any evening/night HRV readings after your set night hour (found in Settings under Wizard) and before your sleep unless you are a shift worker. This is much more reflective of actual daytime stress.
Apple Watch HRV Sampling
The Apple Watch automatically records HRV about every 2โ5 hours to save battery. You can also manually record HRV using a Breathe session in the Mindfulness app on your Watch.
Increase HRV Sampling Frequency
Turning on AFib History on your iPhone boosts HRV sampling to roughly every 10 minutesโ1 hour, offering a more detailed view of your HRV.
Important Note
Enabling AFib History disables Irregular Rhythm Notifications, which are intended for people without AFib. If you rely on these notifications, do not enable AFib History.
How to Enable AFib History
Open the Health app on your iPhone.
Tap Search โ Heart โ AFib History and follow setup.

The Prior Day Stress gauge displays a rating using a gauge to give you an indicator of the previous day's physical and mental stress. The lower the needle to the left, the greater the stress. Alternately, if the white needle shows more to the right on the gauge, this indicates less stress.
For example, you may notice that after a long stressful day in the office yesterday, or an intense workout session leaving you fatigued the day prior to waking up, the gauge may be pointing to the left side. You can use this information as extra context with your sleep quality metrics, such as understanding if stress is impacting your sleep, or what happens to your sleep when stress is low.
Prior Day Stress shows you your current results and the difference to your baseline values. Be sure to wear the Watch during the day for a week minimum to ensure accurate baselines, however the more you wear the Watch the better.
Tap on 'Show Trends' under the Prior Day Stress gauge to drill into the analysis graph, with 28 trailing days and a rolling 7 day trend line.
This page also contains a Stress Report, which will summarise your trends.
If you tap your finger on the graph, you can hold and slide across the screen to see a micro pop-up box with additional information for that day.
